Swedish Pastepapers

Here are scans of Swedish pastepapers.  (Fun Fact!  One of the most famous Swedish paste paper makers was Ingeborg Börjeson, who was actually born in Denmark, and was trained in Denmark and France. Married a Swedish violinist, and lived in Sweden for many years.)

Pastepapers are made by adding color to a carrier, like corn starch, wheat or rice paste, methylcellulose or other materials.  Good pastepaper makers have very specific recipies.  A reference book for this is:  Marbled and Paste Papers, Rosamond Loring's Recipe Book.

Basically the color is applied to the paper and then manipulated by dragging things over the paper.  Think finger painting, but in a much more controlled way.  But no less fun!

These are particularly beautiful examples and I hope you enjoy look these over.  They were all scanned next to a ruler so you will have an accurate representation of the size of the pattern.
