Courses and Workshops

Panther Peak Bindery LLC is beautifully situated on five acres on the outskirts of Tucson, near Saguaro National Park. Tucson is a fantastic place to visit, you can click here to see some of the wonderful things to do and see here. Click here to see a map showing our part of town.

We offer courses for beginners and advanced binders, and everyone in between.

As the bookbinding instructor at the North Bennet Street School for nine years, I taught all major aspects of bookbinding and conservation. The courses at Panther Peak Bindery draw upon that experience as well as my many years as a private binder and conservator.

Visiting instructors are all full-time professional binders or conservators who excel in the work they teach at Panther Peak, and are excellent instructors.

Private tutorials are also available on any aspect of binding and conservation.

We have a fully equipped, air conditioned bindery with plenty of space.  The studio is over 400 square feet and the adjoining bindery has over 300.  In the studio we have 4 Kutrimmers, five presses, a job backer, a Kwikprint, a Kensol and a combination press.

Please note that at this time the nearest bathroom is in our house which is about 150 feet from the studio.

We provide all tools except for knives for some more advanced classes.

To sign up for a class click the “sign up” button and fill out the form, or email me to confirm space is available in the class. When space is confirmed then send the deposit to hold your space.

Cancellation policy:  If we cancel the course you will be notified at least five days before the course and receive a full refund.  I will only cancel a class for unusual reasons, and have yet to cancel one that has enough students signed up.

When you sign up I’ll put you on a list but no deposit will be asked for until enough have signed up for the class. Generally I want four in a class.

If you cancel your registration you will receive your deposit minus 15 dollars if you cancel 14 days before the course start.  No cancellations after 14 days prior to the start of the course.

For classes up to $100 the tuition is the deposit.  Deposits for classes over $100 are $75.  The remaining tuition is due two weeks prior to the course.  An email, or the sign up form, will hold your spot until your deposit arrives.  We accept workshop payments via Paypal (on this page) or check.

Other important stuff:  As stated above the nearest indoor bathroom is in our house which is about 150 feet from the studio.

Since we are pretty remote you should plan on bringing your own lunch.  The nearest places to get food are a Subway and a pretty nice BBQ restaurant, which are 5 minutes away.  There are also several restaurants 12 miles away near I-10 and Cortaro Farms Road - about 15 minutes each way.

We have a fridge and microwave!
